Russell Manor is a high rise building that Ottawa Community Housing dedicated to seniors.
Many elderly people live alone and are isolated. Living in an apartment building doesn’t help to reduce the isolation. Sometimes, the only reason to open the door is to go downstairs to check if there is any mail in the mailbox.
Luckily, the building has a lounge that residents can use for a variety of events, workshops, meetings, gym class or English Conversation for those who need it.
The landlord of Russell Manor, Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) organizes many events for their tenants. Seniors who live at Russell Manor benefit from those events. Music at Russell Manor was one of them.
What was so special about it?
Residents enjoyed live music (a team of 2 musicians) and food in a Holiday atmosphere.
People didn’t have to worry about the weather outside which in many cases would be an obstacle. They can socialize with their neighbours and have a perfect opportunity to “show off” in a holiday outfit.
They can invite family members and friends from outside the building to join the party.
